Axonal transport system : ウィキペディア英語版 | Axonal transport system The axonal transport system is where proteins and other substances travel retrograde or anterograde within the axon of any given neuron cells. A neuron cell has a body called a soma, dendrites that branch off the soma, anterior to the soma is the axon and at the end of the axon are terminal buttons. The axon is made up of neurofilaments with two main functions: to transport proteins and other substances via the axonal transport system, and to give rise to synapses. A synapse is a biochemical communication that occurs outside the cell, usually between a terminal button and dendrites, or an electrical communication which occurs within a neuron. There are three types of intercellular or axonal electrical communication: the microtubular transport system, neurofilament transport system and microfilament transport system.
